BIOGRAPHY

 

Óscar Carrasco was born in Barcelona.  Currently he lives and works in southern Andalusia, Spain.

 

One of the great renovators of the Urbex movement. He is internationally recognised for his impressive photographic works on abandoned places throughout Europe. Forgotten and astonishing locations in which he often clandestinely infiltrated before disappeared.

 

From the beginning, his multidisciplinary work reflects an ecological awareness and a dreamlike vision of time, memory, order and chaos.

His most experimental work evolves exploring new paths combining photography, audio visual art and other disciplines with which he keeps reflecting on the decomposition of the landscape, the points of no return, the sublime return of the organic world.

 

He has received more than 150 national and international awards in the last 20 years and his work has been exhibited throughout the world, in solo exhibitions and the most prestigious art fairs. 

Some of his most notorious awards include the 2018 Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Awards (HIPA, Dubai), the 2009 Generation Award and the 2011 Short Film Contest by Caja Madrid,  XI Unicaja Photography Award or 75 Autumn Hall of the Spanish Association of Painters and Sculptors.

His work has been acquired by prominent private and public collections worldwide.
